The dealer website is where a shopper’s agent shows up first. Every website company will be tempted to build its own agent front door that only lets its own tools through. Then the dealer’s choice of service scheduler, chat or trade tool depends on who built its website.
Building and supporting an agent front door is also expensive. Once you run one, you are in the support business for every tool that plugs into it.
How it works
An agent arrives
A shopper's agent, or the dealer's own, lands on the dealer website and finds the gateway at a standard address.
The gateway knows the store's tools
The dealer has plugged in its scheduler, chat, trade tool, digital retailing and CRM, from whichever vendors it uses.
Tools pass the customer along
Using the handshake, each tool gets proof of what the customer authorized and agreed to, without passing around personal data.
Open code
The gateway is open. Nobody has to license it, and nobody owns the door.
Anyone can host
Website companies, agent companies, or the dealer group itself. Hosts compete on integrations and support, not on locking dealers in.
Any agent-ready tool plugs in
If a vendor has an MCP, the dealer can connect it. If it doesn’t, it’s visible on the scoreboard.
For website companies
Hosting the open gateway gets your dealers an agent front door without you building and supporting one alone. You can still charge for hosting and support, and your own tools plug in like everyone else’s.
The hosts that win will be the ones with the most integrations and the best support, and support can be largely automated when every tool behind the door speaks the same handshake.
